Monarch is the granddaddy of casinos in Black Hawk, Colorado. It has the most advantage games, by far, and with it the most competition. Still, in the week I was in Colorado, I found myself at Monarch more than any other casino.
Oh, and if you’re into free hot chocolate, they have the best of any place in Black Hawk:
What’s cool about Black Hawk is the soda is free at all of the casinos, not just Monarch. But I’m a hot chocolate guy, and the stuff here was the best.
Moving on, Monarch had a bustling poker room (with very soft games, I should add). So if you’re a poker player in addition to a slot hustler, this is the place for you.
Further, I was able to get free rooms at Monarch after just a few days of gambling. In fact, I got a suite for three nights after what felt like not all that much coin in:
As I said, it’s competitive, but compared to places like Las Vegas, it’s a walk in the park. Monarch has a great variety of advantage games as well, and though I heard you need to be careful with camping while here, I never felt uneasy checking various machines for plays.
