From what I heard from multiple sources, Baha Mar used to be one of the best places on earth for advantage slots. There were high-end games everywhere, rich tourists loading them up, big denoms, and great plays all over the place. That sounds like a dream, especially compared to what the place is now.

I’ve been to Baha Mar plenty of times, but never in the glory years. There are very few advantage machines left, but there are still some high-limit plays that you will find with more frequency than you would in most other casinos. Because there are so few plays, it’s hard for me to get a comped room here, and I would never spend the $500 or whatever it costs per night to get a room the old-fashioned way.

The location is also not my favorite, especially since I always stay at Atlantis for free. It’s about seven or so miles from Atlantis, which on one hand is a positive since slot hustlers staying at Atlantis and those who come off cruise ships for the day often won’t make the trek to Baha Mar. But it’s also a pain, since a taxi is about $30 one way. I actually bike back and forth (see Atlantis post), but biking comes with its own challenges.

I would never, ever go to Baha Mar for advantage slots if Atlantis didn’t exist, but while I’m in town, I will stop by the place at least once per day to see if any of the slots got juiced up enough. There are plenty of mega-rich people staying at the resort; it’s just a shame there aren’t many advantage games in the casino currently for that to matter a whole lot.
