I had a friend walk into Westgate yesterday and after checking the Phx Links he was surrounded by 4 security and 86ed.  He has never played in the Westgate, and hasn’t counted cards in Vegas in over a year so it wasn’t blackjack heat.

Good to know. Thanks for the tip. I will say this, and maybe I’ll make a Blog post about it, but this can be a positive in a weird way. In casinos that are actively banning APs, there are going to be more plays out there. I noticed this at the Cosmo a couple of years ago when they were doing that for a stretch. The flip side is you really can’t “touch” many machines on your slot walk. You need to be extra, extra careful. Of course, never use the players card, either.

You would think there is some middle ground here, like what they sometimes do with card counters? As in, I’ve heard the stories of people who are backed off but only get a warning. “Mister Counter, you’re just too good for us at ‘Casino Raisonnable’, you’re still welcome to play slots or our other table games, but please, no more Blackjack, and please don’t make us ask again, okay?”

And wouldn’t that be surreal, to be asked, “Mister Slot Slayer, it’s become clear you’re just too good for us at ‘Not The Westgate’, you’re still welcome to play Blackjack or our other table games, but please, no more slots…”

Ha! They actually said something similar to me at Norwegian Cruise Line. I can go on the boat and anywhere else but the casino. They were quite friendly.

I think some casinos are in panic mode and still don’t understand how AP slots work, even if they now know it’s legitimate. It’s probably easier to just say, “Leave and don’t come back.”

Part of this is there is a company that has been getting press to the casinos that has some software to detect slot hustlers.  And of course they paint it as slot hustlers are costing you millions.  In addition Buddy Frank has been talking about persistence machines and slot hustlers recently.  He has written that anyone who works in a slot department should be required to read Ben’s book.

Right. Tangam Systems or whatever other companies must be loving the book/website and Buddy Frank’s review. They can now point to a legitimate source and say, “See! Look! You need us.” Color me curious to see how it all plays out. I do think these companies will suggest cutting slot offers and banning people, but not removing the machines (i.e., the only real “solution,” if this even needs a solution). If advantage machines are pulled, there’s no need for Tangam. And this could be a lucrative cottage industry for them considering how much coverage advantage play has gotten recently.

I can attest to the Westgate 86ing people for advantage playing slots.  I was walked out 22 months ago so they have been doing this for a while now.
