I was making the usual rounds at the local casino. There’s six machines of Luckymon – two sets of three that aren’t particularly close to each other. All six had each creature at the base level for every single denom. As I cycled through it felt like some sort of AP trap. This can’t be normal, right? Would they reset if one hit the progressive? I didn’t think to check it at the time.

I’ve seen this happen before. Not with that game, but with others. Here’s a rambling blog post about it:

One Subtle Way Casinos Screw You Over

It also came up during this podcast:

And I’m fairly certain it was discussed in a thread somewhere on this site, though I can’t locate it at the moment.

It might be harmless. When games need a hard reset for whatever reason, some go to that worst level. (Conversely, some come front-loaded to pay out quite a bit: https://slotslayers.com/new-installs-keep-an-eye-out/.)

It might not always be harmless, as I speculated on in the first blog post.

Either way, I don’t think it’s any sort of AP trap. More like a trap for fish, perhaps.
