Icy Wilds and similar

Running into  a few games that basically play the same or very similar to Icy Wilds.

Stack Attack is one.

The question is, how much of a downgrade on the strength of the play is there if your

live column is column 4 or 5 vs it being 1, 2 or 3?

 

The recommendation is to play any live column.

Playing column 5 seemed a bit counter-intuitive.

Good question. Icy Wilds is an interesting game, as you are not just paid the conventional left to right on line hits. The game can also sometimes pay right to left (much like Hexbreaker). It can even pay without anything lining up left to right or right to left if you get that top-paying symbol (the ice princess) in two of those adjacent middle columns. But it’s not always going to pay right to left; you need that ice princess for it to do so. Yes, I’d still prefer a wild in those first three reels because I can win on non-princess line hits that way, but I’ll play with any active wild, even if it’s in reel four or five. I didn’t do a great job explaining the “why” behind this, though, so I’ll adjust that entry.
