I was also a fan of Ameristar during my week-long trip to Black Hawk. Across from The Lodge and Bally’s, Ameristar has a kind of upscale feel when you walk in.
There are plenty of advantage games and two floors. I’d say the competition is similar to what you’d see at The Lodge: present but not overwhelming. I stopped by Ameristar at least a few times per day, and you could do worse than sticking around here at busy times.
It could also make sense to go in a small Ameristar-Lodge loop, and maybe mix in Bally’s as well. That way, you wouldn’t be wasting time walking all over and would tackle three of the better casinos in Black Hawk.
