This casino always felt out of place to me, at least in the current climate on the strip. It’s one of the first casinos you’ll get to on the strip, before MGM and Caesars start to take over. It has sort of a rundown feel from the outside, and the inside isn’t much better. Don’t get me wrong: I’ve seen much worse out there. But considering its location, it doesn’t quite fit in 2026.
From what I understand (I’m no Vegas historian or anything), the location has changed hands many times over the years. Hooters, which the casino was once fully associated with, still maintains a presence at OYO. It used to be next to the old Tropicana.
The slots are nothing special. There aren’t many games, though there are some advantage games. You still get some competition too, though it’s nothing like what you’ll find at MGM and Caesars. If you think about it, it makes plenty of sense. If there’s a long-run close sort of play, who would care about showing action at OYO? I know I wouldn’t.
I’m no Vegas Pauly C, but I’d be curious to see if he has a video on this one. It seems closer to a demolition than a full-scale rebrand.
