I’ve only been on one Princess Cruise so far, Enchanted Princess. It was solid enough, but the casino was pretty small, and it wasn’t chock-full of advantage games. I knew that going in, as I looked up footage of the cruise beforehand, but I kind of owned myself by overthinking things. I figured fellow slot hustlers might be deterred from a 10-day voyage, but one guy didn’t get the memo, and he made my 10 days fairly unpleasant by rarely leaving the casino.

Sometimes that’s all it takes for a cruise to turn from lucrative to just mildly profitable: one guy who knows enough of the machines who doesn’t leave the casino all that often. There are only so many games, and if you’re on a cruise mostly for the slots, you can feel like you just lit 10 days on fire. At least that’s how I felt after the first day.

Other than that, there was enough here, but with him and another couple who knew just enough to ruin some plays, this was a pretty frustrating experience for me. That’s how it goes sometimes, though, and it’s why cruises in general can be kind of dangerous.
