    Takeaways

    • Rent a bike if you’re able to. I went to Tech Shack, which was just a few minutes from the port. Aruba—unlike a place such as the Bahamas, where biking feels harrowing at times—has bike lanes all over. The roads are smooth, and I thoroughly enjoyed this aspect of the trip. It was about $100 to rent a bike for the week.
    • Save on food. Get away from the fancier options near the port and by some of the casinos in the other section. Travel up side streets. Aruba is often regarded as the safest island in the Caribbean.
    • Travel to as many casinos as possible. I would not set up shop in one section if you can help it. The casinos are small, and you’re leaving money on the table if you don’t travel a lot.
    • Don’t waste money on a phone plan. Stay in airplane mode and connect to Wi-Fi when you’re at the casinos.
    • Get player cards at all the casinos. Many will give you free slot play and fun T-shirts.
    • Bring a bathing suit if you’re into swimming. It’s very easy to sneak into all of the resorts and gain access to the pools/beach.
