For my number recommendations, I’m assuming someone is playing on the 1¢ denom, which is where you’ll find plays the majority of the time. I mean, if a machine offers 1¢, 2¢, 5¢, and 10¢ options, for instance, how often do you really find a play on the 200 credit bet on the 5¢ denom, let’s say? It happens, but not often.
Now, there are some longer-run games where I would value a bet size on a larger denom more than I would a smaller one. For me, this most comes into play on games such as Buffalo Link and Phoenix Link. If I’m on the $1 denom, let’s say, I’d take a number a little lower than I would on the 1¢ denom. (On those games, oddly enough, I did at one time value bigger credits within each denom, but I’ve since moved more to prioritizing denom size.)
To answer your actual questions:
- “…you would win 2x on the same hit at 200 credits as 100 credits.” Correct.
- I would not. As mentioned above, I am assuming I am playing on the 1¢ denom with my number recommendations, so if I found a play on 10¢, let’s say, that could only help me long term.
- “They cost the same per spin but would the bonus feature pay better at the 2 cent denom or are they generally equal?” It’s a good question and may sometimes be a bit machine- or casino-dependent. It would be more noticeable in high limit versus something on 1¢ outside of that room, but your example would be mostly negligible in my opinion.
Overall, I can’t think of an example where I’d skip something on the 1¢ denom if it met my minimum play recommendations. But I could see lowering my numbers for higher denoms in certain situations.
