      What is the general advice on AP’ing slots at a casino you have been recently backed off from for playing BJ? I understand AP slots are usually very much less heat and even tolerated, but I am wondering if there might be more heat if they recognize you from blackjack?

        Make sure it’s just blackjack. For instance, when I was told not to slot anymore at a few places, it was a casino-wide ban. You could even sheepishly ask if you can still play slots (obviously don’t mention advantage slots).

        As far as there being less heat, it depends on the place. Some casinos don’t care at all (unless you’re harassing someone on the machine), some care a little and will look out for huge winning slot players, some have a zero-tolerance policy for AP slotting and will boot you the moment you start clicking through a machine.

        In your situation, I’d have to imagine you’d have a bit of a target on your back as soon as you come in. So assuming you’re even allowed, I’d do as much looking for plays with your eyes as you can, at least initially. It would probably also make sense to come at busier times so you don’t stick out as much to security. Not that you’d ever be completely invisible or anything, but it would help a little.

          Got it. This is a very busy casino in a major city with a lot of obvious slot hustlers. And when I was backed off, it was just from BJ. But I am wondering, since they now know I am a BJ AP, I am wondering if they might look at me more closely. Sounds like I should be careful and not be too obvious.

              Give them a break and come back another time. You said it’s a busy casino in a major city, I doubt they remember you from blackjack in a month or two anyway. Now…a small casino in nowhereville would be a different story, but in this case…I think you’ll be fine in a month.

                Another tip to avoid detection, as you begin to recognize fellow APs, it makes sense that if they are being watched, and you are seen with or even just around them, well, you are now being watched every time you’re with them. And that could lead to you being watched all the time.

                So if you’ve ever been tempted to check the back half of an 8-machine carousel before the guy you can’t stand can finish checking the other side…maybe you don’t want to be doing what he’s doing at the same time he’s doing it. (Do as I say, because I do as I do, and I do as I say I do, if I do say so)

                There are some people out there who give a bad rep to APs as a whole, and I don’t want to be in the same frame as them at any time. Then there are APs that I’m friendly with (and also people I’m actual friends with), and being seen together too often maybe isn’t too good. Then again, maybe it’s no big whoop in some places. Make sure the networking and the relationships are worth the “screen time”.
